Carla was born in Macon, Missouri, and was raised in Clarence, Missouri. She attended Truman State University and graduated in 1993, with a Bachelor of Arts in Business, with honors, and was a recipient of the National Collegiate Business Merit Award. Carla then graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 1996, where she was a member of the Journal of Dispute Resolution, with a Comment published, and was included on the Dean’s List. After law school, Carla clerked for the Honorable Lawrence Crahan of the Missouri Eastern District Court of Appeals. She returned to Columbia in 1997 and practiced law for 11 years. In 2011, following a leave to care for her family, Carla returned to the practice of law and concentrates in the areas of business law and contracts, real estate, estate planning, employment law, and nonprofit law.
