Firm Overview

The law firm of Atwill and Montgomery was established in 2000. The firm focuses its practice in the areas of workers' compensation, insurance defense, personal injury, real estate, banking, and general litigation and appellate work. The firm has five members: Mr. Daniel K. Atwill and Mr. Richard L. Montgomery, Jr., the firm founders and partners; Jared P. Vessell, David A. Weidner, and Kelly L. Mills, firm associates; and Kristen Atwill Craver, Of Counsel.

Mr. Daniel Atwill earned his bachelor's degree in 1969 and his J.D. in 1971 from the University of Missouri. He was admitted to the Bar of the State of Missouri in 1972. He is admitted to practice before the Missouri Supreme Court, U.S Court of Military Appeals and the U.S Court of Appeals. Mr. Atwill is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers, and the Defense Research Institute. He is also a member of the Boone County Bar Association for which he served as president from 2001 to 2002. Additionally, Mr. Atwill served as an editor for the Workers' Compensation Section of Missouri's Lawyers Weekly from 1992 to 1998.

Mr. Richard Montgomery earned his bachelor's degree in 1990 and his J.D in 1993 from the University of Missouri. He was admitted to the Bar of the State of Missouri in 1993. He is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, American Bar Association, Boone County Bar Association, the Missouri Bar Association Workers' Compensation Committee, the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers, and serves on the Board of Directors of Kids' Chance of Missouri, Inc., and on the Board of Directors of the Heart of Missouri United Way.

Jared P. Vessell was admitted to the Bar of the State of Missouri in 2003, David A. Weidner in 2008, Kelly L. Mills in 2009, and Kirsten Atwill Craver in 2001.  David A. Weidner was also admitted to the Bar of the State of Illinois in 2009, and Kelly L. Mills was also admitted to the Bar of the State of Alabama in 2008.
